Installing and configuring Ideagen Mail Manager Enterprise desktop application

Users who want to install and configure Ideagen Mail Manager Enterprise desktop app.

This article provides a step-by-step checklist for installing and configuring the Ideagen Mail Manager Enterprise desktop application, including required permissions and optional configuration items.
Registering your organisation
To register your organisation:
- Go to the registration page.
- Choose the appropriate region.
- Enter a valid business email address.
Whitelisting required items
To whitelist the necessary items:
- Review the whitelisting article.
- Whitelist all items listed in section 2.
Creating the administration site
To create the administration site:
- Create a basic SharePoint site named oneplacesolutions on your tenant.
This site will hold settings and profile details for the application. Follow sections 1 and 2 in the creating the administration site article.
Downloading and deploying the software
To download the latest version:
- Access the download article to obtain the latest desktop application, including Mail, Docs and Admin elements.
To deploy the software:
- Follow the full instructions in the enterprise deployment article.
Consenting the app
To consent the app on behalf of your organisation:
- Go to the consent page.
- Grant consent to prevent all users being prompted for admin authentication.

Installing the admin client
The admin client is a Windows-based application required on one or two machines for administering the solution.
To install the admin client:
- Decide who your administrators will be.
- Package the .msi file and push via Intune, or manually install using the all-in-one installer.
- Deselect any elements that are not required.
Connecting to the admin site
To connect to your administration site:
- Follow the instructions in the connecting to your administration site article.
Note: Microsoft admin authentication is required for this activity.
Deploying the email columns
Email columns allow all metadata to be captured for filed emails.
To deploy email columns:
- Access the machine where the admin client has been installed.
- Follow the instructions in the adding email columns article.
Configuring optional items
The following configuration items are optional but can enhance your solution.
Configuration profiles
Configuration profiles allow administrators to centrally control certain elements of the solution. See creating and managing configuration profiles.
Solution profiles
Solution profiles allow administrators to configure profiles that dynamically deliver filing locations and other business solutions to end users. See creating and managing solution profiles.

Understanding required permissions
SharePoint admin
Required to add a new basic site named oneplacesolutions as an administration site.
Microsoft admin
Required to make the initial connection between the Ideagen Mail Manager admin client and the administration site. After the initial connection, normal user credentials can be used in the admin client.
