This article walks you through common questions for Multi-Geo SharePoint search schemas.
Is the Email Search Schema wizard fully supported in Multi-Geo tenants?
No, only the Deploy Seed Folder and Crawled Property generation stages are supported.
Managed Property creation and mapping must be completed manually.
Do I need to perform these steps for every Geo?
Yes, managed Properties are configured within the Search Schema of each Geo and must be created individually.
Can I use different RefinableString properties?
Yes, the examples in the Configuring SharePoint search schema for Multi-Geo article use:
RefinableString00 - RefinableString08
RefinableDate00
However, any available RefinableString or RefinableDate property can be used provided the Alias values are configured correctly.
Why is manual mapping required?
In a Multi-Geo environment, automatic Search Schema import and Managed Property creation are not supported by the Admin Client. Manual mapping is required to ensure the Managed Properties are available in the specific Geo's Search index.
Will this impact existing email columns?
No, the configuration only affects SharePoint Search Schema mappings and does not modify existing email columns or previously saved email content.
