Content type FAQs
Who is this article for?

This article answers common questions about content type visibility and behaviour in OnePlaceMail Desktop 9.4 and later versions.
1. Will this change affect all my content types?
Only content types not marked as Visible on New Button in your SharePoint library settings are affected. Content types marked as visible will continue to behave as before.
2. Why is my New button on Docs Explorer still not showing content types not marked as 'Visible on New Button'?
This is expected behaviour. Modern SharePoint does not show content types not marked as Visible on New Button on the Create or upload button in a library, and OnePlaceMail Desktop 9.4 mirrors this. Content types not marked as Visible on New Button will only appear when editing an existing item.
3. I am on classic SharePoint. What should I do?
We recommend reviewing the impact before upgrading to Desktop 9.4. You may choose to remain on an earlier version or work with your SharePoint administrator to transition to the modern SharePoint experience.
4. Can I revert to the old behaviour after upgrading?
No — from Desktop 9.4 onwards, the product will only support modern SharePoint behaviour for content type visibility. If this is a concern, we recommend not upgrading until your organisation is ready.
