Configuring custom email content types
Who is this article for?
Administrators who want to learn to configure custom email content types.
No elevated permissions are required.
This article explains how to configure a custom email content type to be used by default when saving emails with Ideagen Mail Manager Enterprise (formerly OnePlace).
1. Default behavior
By default, Ideagen Mail Manager Enterprise (formerly OnePlace) will use the OnePlaceMail Email content type if available. If not, the default SharePoint content type (typically Document) will be used.
If you're already using the OnePlaceMail Email content type, no further configuration is required. However, if you use a custom content type for emails, follow the steps below to ensure it is applied by default.
2. Configure a custom content type centrally
- Install the Mail Manager Enterprise administration client from the MSI downloads page.
- Open the administration client and navigate to the Central Configuration section.
- Double-click the configuration profile you want to update or create a new one.
- In the configuration items table, double-click Email content type detection when saving emails.
- In the pop-up window:
- Set the option to True to enable detection.
- Enter one or more content type names in priority order.
- If the top-priority content type is not supported by the target SharePoint library, EnterpriseMail will use the next supported type in the list.
- Click OK and then select Save Pending Changes.
Once configured, when users save an email in Outlook using Ideagen Mail Manager Enterprise (formerly OnePlace), the system will automatically apply the highest priority supported content type specified in the configuration profile.
