Understanding the admin deployment upgrade
Who is this article for?
Administrators who want to learn to complete the admin deployment upgrade.
No elevated permissions are required.
This article provides instructions for administrators to complete the required upgrade of the Mail Manager Enterprise app for Outlook.
1. Admin deployment upgrade
The app previously known as OnePlaceMail is now rebranded as Mail Manager: Enterprise. If the app was centrally deployed before 17 September 2025, a Microsoft 365 administrator must complete an update in the admin center.
This upgrade activates new features based on event-driven activation and updates the app name and icons to reflect the rebranding.
Important: Users who installed the older version individually via AppSource or the in-app store before the new manifest was released will not receive an upgrade notification. Best practice is for a Microsoft 365 administrator to centrally deploy the app to all users.
2. Steps to complete the pending update
- Log into the Microsoft 365 admin center.
- Select Settings Integrated Apps.
- Find or search for Mail Manager for Outlook.
- Look for the Update pending status.
- Select the app to open deployment details and click Know more and update.
- Review the changes related to event-based activation and click Accept and update.
- Wait for the update to complete and click Done.
- Confirm the status shows OK.
Note: It may take up to 12 hours for the upgrade to take effect. Please wait 24 hours before contacting support.
