This article explains how to rename and overwrite files when saving to SharePoint using OnePlaceMail and OnePlaceDocs.
1. Rename files when saving to SharePoint
When saving a document to SharePoint via OnePlace Solutions, it is possible to rename the file during the save process.
Select Rename files within the Save to SharePoint window to rename files being saved.
2. Rename a document
Note: Renaming is supported for SharePoint Online/365, 2019, and 2016.
It is possible to rename a document that has previously been saved to a SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, or OneDrive location.
The document can be renamed OnePlaceMail or OnePlaceDocs Explorer.
3. Overwrite existing files
Files in a SharePoint location will not be overwritten unless the Override existing files option is checked in the Save to SharePoint window. If this option is selected, the original file will be replaced and managed according to SharePoint configurations.
3.1. If document versioning is not enabled
The file will be uploaded and will replace the existing file with the same document name.
3.2. If versioning is enabled on the library
If versioning is enabled and Override existing files are selected, the saved file will become a new version of the existing document with the same name.
3.3. If documents are required to be checked out
If the document library has the version control setting Require documents to be checked out before they can be edited, you will be unable to overwrite the existing file. Additionally, if the file is already checked out by someone else, it cannot be overwritten.
