This article outlines how OnePlaceMail handles content types and captures metadata when saving emails to SharePoint.
1. Content type selection
OnePlaceMail will automatically select the default content type applied to the location being saved to.
Additional content types can be selected from the drop-down menu.
In a scenario where both a document content type and an email content type are available in the document library, it is recommended to:
- Order the document content type first and the email content type second
- 2. Define the email content type in OnePlaceLive settings
Once configured, when saving an MSG or EML file, OnePlaceMail will automatically load the specified email content type, ensuring that email metadata is captured during the save process.
Note: Configure OnePlaceMail to disable the Save button when the email content type is not available. The item to configure in the OnePlaceLive configuration profile is "Email metadata not being captured notification".
3. Columns supported
Standard SharePoint columns will be automatically presented in the Save to SharePoint dialog box.
4. Managed metadata columns
Capturing metadata for enterprise keywords and managed metadata can be completed using the type-ahead capability, which returns values in the list.
Using the managed metadata picker will return the term set, allowing you to browse and select an available term.
If the term set is open, it is possible to add a term when saving to SharePoint.
5. Look-up columns
Capturing metadata for a look-up column can be completed using the type-ahead capability or by selecting the picker to choose the correct item. If the user has access to create a new value, this can be done when saving to SharePoint or editing the item.
6. People and group columns
Capturing metadata for a people or group column can be completed using the type-ahead capability or by selecting the people picker icon to search for a user.
