Error "The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found" when performing operations against a SharePoint 2010 server

This article outlines scenarios in which you may encounter the error how to fix it.
1. Issue
In the below scenarios, the cause of the error is that the OnePlaceMail Server Components have not been installed on all of the necessary SharePoint servers in your farm. These include the Central Admin server and each additional front-end web server where you plan to save content.
Scenario 1
On the SharePoint 2010 server, when you launch the OnePlaceMail Licencing Utility, you are presented with the following error message.

On the SharePoint 2010 server, launching the OnePlaceMail Server Configuration Utility shows the following error message.
Scenario 3
When adding a site collection URL (under the OnePlaceMail Settings dialog), clicking the Check URL link shows the following error when the site collection URL resides on a SharePoint 2010 server.
Details of the error message displays the following content:
An error has occurred connecting to this SharePoint URL. Please re-enter a valid URL to a SharePoint site collection.
Possible Causes:
* Server is currently not available
* Site collection URL is invalid (URL to site collection, site, document library or list are acceptable)
* You do not have access to this site collection

Scenario 4
When managing OnePlaceMail folders (Manage My OnePlaceMail Folders dialog), attempting to expand a site collection causes the error message to appear when the site collection URL resides on a SharePoint 2010 server.
2. Resolution
To resolve the problem:
- Open the Central Administration site.
- Go to System Settings.
- Select Manage servers in this farm.
- Identify all SharePoint servers in your farm.
- On each of the identified SharePoint servers, check the installed programs (under Control Panel) to ensure Scinaptic OnePlaceMail Server Components has been installed.
- Install the Scinaptic OnePlaceMail Server Components on the Central Admin server and on each additional front-end web server where you plan to save content.
- Perform an IIS Reset on every server.
